tibenham Airfield
With most of the WWII runways still in service, Tibenham boasts some of the best opportunities for budding pilots, from ab-initio to aerobatics training in gliders and powered aircraft. Today the airfield has grown into a genuinely multi-purpose site — home to gliding, powered flight, micro-lights, ballooning, even model and jet model flying, along with a working relationship with military and emergency operators through our fuel and PPR facilities.
Few airfields in the region offer this breadth under one roof, which is why we like to think of Tibenham as the jewel in the crown of East Anglia's aviation scene — a living working airfield, and proudly the home of aviation in East Anglia.
Tibenham also hosts activities such as Drive Age 10, paramotoring, and model aircraft flying including jet models, the only airfield in East Anglia that currently hosts jet models.
With tractor runs, classic car and bike meets and excellent camping facilities Tibenham is a regular haunt for cyclists and others who make use of our café while relaxing and watching the activities.
Dedicated to the airmen of the 445th Bombardment Group, USAAF, who flew from Tibenham 1943–1945 — and to the 576 who gave everything for our freedom, flying from these runways.
